What the...?
I apologize for the delay in updating the daily r, as its been a looong coupla days for me. Hats off to Cance for a great thought into the whole hero debate of America.
It is true, in a sense, that the United States has gone for a very long time without a national hero. One that transended race and gender, culture and religions has not been in American lives since perhaps Roberto Clemente? And sadly the reason he is a hero is because of is sports star status. But one could also make a great case for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a hero.
But if we truly need inspiration I suggest, as Cance did, we should look to our teachers, local emergency responders, volunteers, chaplins, the people that make us tick.
This year is the year of "what the f*#$?" From freak tsumani's in Asia in the beginning. To straight up no WMDs and elections in Iraq that didn't work. To Hurricane-R-Us. I mean stuff is just bananas in '05.
This week to start off light we have -
NC State Athlete may be deported. What the hell people at the US ICE are thinking? Here's a kid, has been living here since 1994, has made his way through NYC PUBLIC SCHOOLS, is now attending a national recognized school, and they want to deport HIM?! You know those illegals that peddle poorer immigrants over the boarder, now those are the ICE's kinds people.
This would never have happened if he went to UNC. (i kid i kid!)
Nomar Garciaparra saved two drowning ladies in Boston's Harbor late last week. Along with his uncle Victor, Nomar jumped into the water after hearing screams and spalshes. They pulled the two out of the water and the first thing people said to arrive on the scene was "Aren't you Nomar?"
Boston...you let him go for what reason again? This man can cure cancer.
Now on the heavier note.
Over the weekend a earthquake measured at 7.3 on the Richter, has claimed over 40,000 lives in Pakistan,Kashmir, and India. I know we've all heard of this over the week so I wont rehash it.
But the lastest is it is still hard to get aid to the remote areas of the country. Think West Virginia 1720. But the weather has cleared up enough today to make it easier for aid from 30 countries to arrive, the US leading the way.
(If there is one thing i do love about America, is that we may not care with our brains or policies, but the people will come thru with their hearts.)
WTF is up with natural disasters?
Speaking of which
How can an A-bomb do good? Well it cant but a system that tells of an atomic explosion may be used to warn of tsunamis according to a California institute.
